CLINICAL EXAMPLE 1 Percutaneous Antegrade Ureteral Stent Placement CLINICAL HISTORY A 49-year-old female status post hysterectomy presents with right flank pain. Computed tomography (CT) reveals marked right hydronephrosis secondary to distal right ureteral obstruction in the region of the vaginal cuff. Percutaneous nephrostomy and antegrade ureteral stent placement are desired. TECHNIQUE Moderate sedation services were provided for 45 minutes. A trained independent observer was present to monitor the patient's level of consciousness.
