February 2021 pages 9-10 Reporting Computed Tomography of the Thorax A new code (71271) was established to report low-dose computed tomography (CT) for lung cancer screening for the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) 2021 code set. Codes 71250, 71260, and 71270 were editorially revised by adding “diagnostic” to the code descriptors to clarify that these codes are reported for diagnostic CT and to distinguish them from the new screening code 71271.
