March 2021 page 8 Reporting MAAA for Bacterial Vaginosis and Vaginitis For the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) 2021 code set, two new Category I multianalyte assays with algorithmic analyses (MAAA) codes (81513, 81514) were established in the MAAA subsection of the Pathology and Laboratory section. Codes 81513 and 81514 were created to report infectious disease, bacterial vaginosis (BV) and vaginitis, and quantitative real-time amplification of DNA and RNA markers for specific bacteria species, using vaginal-fluid specimens.
