January 2022 page 16 Reporting Percutaneous Cerebral Embolic Protection (33370) For the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) 2022 code set, a new Category I code (33370) has been established to report the placement and removal of a cerebral embolic protection device (CEPD). These devices were developed to minimize the risk of peri-procedural ischemic stroke during a transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) or transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) procedure.
