June 2012 page 15 Surgery: Integumentary System Question: An autogenous fat grafting procedure is performed on an area of remaining defect for a patient that is status post facial trauma and reconstructions. During this procedure, a total of 20 mls of fat is harvested from two stab incisions on the lower abdominal area, and the fat is then centrifuged. A fat grafting cannula is used to place the fat for grafting in small ribbon aliquots within the areas of defect.
