Is the partial facetectomy, in order to permit placement of the X-STOP, reported separately? AMA Comment CPT code 22899, Unlisted procedure, spine, should be reported for the X-STOP procedure. If the facetectomy is only to make room for the device and not to decompress the nerves, it would only involve a small amount of bone removal and would, therefore, not be separately reported.
