A clinical treatment plan is developed by the radiation oncologist (77295). Instructions direct a physicist or therapist to coach the patient in proper breathing techniques and make the necessary adjustments to the patients positioning and equipment in order to obtain a satisfactory set of images. The radiation oncologist then reviews the three-dimensional dataset, verifies that the final product accurately represents the tumor motion, and uses the data to determine how to proceed with the treatment. Is it appropriate to report code 77293, Respiratory motion management simulation (List separately in addition to code for primary procedure), when the physician is not physically present with the patient during the three-dimensional simulation?
