The CPT 2019 Anesthesia Guidelines indicate that more than one qualifying circumstance code for anesthesia (99100-99140) may be selected. Can the same qualifying circumstance code be reported multiple times for the same encounter? For example, may CPT code 99140, Anesthesia complicated by emergency conditions (specify) (List separately in addition to code for primary anesthesia procedure), be reported twice for the same encounter?
