CPT Knowledgebase - Jan 6, 2023

CPT code 0310T was deleted in 2018 with instructions from CPT Changes 2018 to report code 64999 for motor function mapping using noninvasive navigated transcranial magnetic stimulation (nTMS) for therapeutic treatment planning. Currently, nTMS technology is commonly used in pediatric brain mapping prior to surgery and it does not require the same physician work as repetitive TMS (rTMS), which is used for behavioral health treatment. Would a code from code range 95928-95939 (central motor evoked potential study for TMS) be appropriate to report for motor mapping using nTMS, or should code 64999 be reported for all nTMS brain mapping?
