How would meniscal trephination of the knee be reported? Trephination may be carried out to create small vascular access channels using a 22-gauge spinal needle. The needle is placed through the portals of the skin and pierces the periphery of the meniscus at 5-mm intervals traveling radially through the meniscus and tear site.
