CMS Finalizes New Policies for Medicare Drug Plans

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) finalized new policies for Medicare drug plans beginning on January 1st, 2019. These policies demonstrate their understanding of the magnitude of our nation’s opioid epidemic and the impact that it has on our communities. Opioid medications are effective at treating certain types of pain, but have serious risks to many patients, including addiction, overdose, increasing tolerance, and death.
