Mind your modifiers: Report and document drug waste as of Jan. 1 or lose out on revenue
Whether you have been using modifier JW (Drug or biological amount discarded/not administered to any patient) to report discarded drugs billed to Medicare Part B for a while or didn’t begin until CMS instituted the national policy at the start of 2017, now is a good time to review the rules for this modifier to avoid documentation, coding, billing and payment mishaps.
