Reader Question: Map Out How To Report A Global Service Component From a Second Physician

Question: One of our ED physicians removed nasal packs (patient had them put in at the same hospital by a different doctor). The physicians belong to the same ED group. Is there a code for the nasal pack removal? It’s not a foreign body, so I am unsure. The packing was put in by the ER doctor. Patient came to us as a new patient for the removal. I think is removal is part of the initial service, my thought is, if the doctor put in the nasal packing, he cannot bill for the removal. How about if...
