Question: I would like to know about state testing for certification and whether there are work books or other materials to study.Elizabeth Allen, Coding Specialist, N.J.Answer: To our knowledge, there are no state-specific certification programs. Most states recognize the national certifications of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). The AAPC has an independent study program and study guides available.
