Question: Mesh implantation should not be billed if laparoscopic hernia repair was performed because mesh is always placed during laparoscopic hernia repairs and is therefore included in the repair. Does this apply to umbilical hernia repair also? Or is umbilical hernia repair a subtype of ventral hernia repair, which would allow us to bill for the implantation of mesh?Nevada Subscriber  Answer: Mesh is always used during any laparoscopic repair.
