Hospices have their fair share of regulatory action planned this year.
According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' most recent semiannual regulatory agenda, the agency plans to take action on these hospice items in 2004:
Long-term care. CMS plans to propose a rule that "will clarify the hospice care of residents in long-term care facilities," the agenda says. The proposal, which addresses a regulatory hot spot given much attention by the HHS Office of Inspector General, is slated for September.
