Epiretinal Visual Prosthesis
Effective October 1, 2013, three new procedure codes have been created for the implantation (14.81), removal (14.82) and revision or replacement (14.83) of an epiretinal visual prosthesis. The epiretinal visual prosthesis is an implant that is used to partially restore vision by providing electrical stimulation of the retina to induce visual perception in patients with severe to profound retinitis pigmentosa.
