Acquired Ureteropelvic Junction Obstruction

A new code N13.0, Hydronephrosis with ureteropelvic junction obstruction, has been created at category N13, Obstructive and reflux uropathy, to uniquely identify acquired obstruction of ureteropelvic junction (UPJ) when hydronephrosis is present. UPJ obstruction is described as an obstruction of the flow of urine from the renal pelvis to the proximal ureter. Congenital abnormalities may be observed in both adults and children as a result of infections, scarring, or a crossing vessel.
