ICD-9-CM has been modified to provide for the coding of all acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive bronchitis. Acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive bronchitis is not the same as acute bronchitis and assigning code 466.0, Acute bronchitis, in this situation is incorrect.
