Effective October 1, 2004, a new code has been created for the reporting of insertion of palatal implant. The insertion of a palatal implant is a minimally invasive treatment for snoring that does not involve heating or the removal of tissue. The implant system is specifically designed to reduce snoring by stiffening the soft palate using a mechanical means in addition to fibrosis caused by the presence of an implant.
