A new note has been added to category S06, Intracranial injury, to clarify that the 7th characters to describe subsequent encounter (D) and sequela (S) do not apply to codes with the 6th character 7 (death due to brain injury prior to regaining consciousness) or the 6th character 8 (death due to other cause prior to regaining consciousness). The applicable codes have been deactivated since these 7th characters are irrelevant for these codes as there would be no encounters following the death of a patient. ...
