According to Coding Clinic First Quarter 2015, pages 12-13, codes S06.340A, Traumatic hemorrhage of right cerebrum without loss of consciousness, initial encounter, and S06.1X0A, Traumatic cerebral edema without loss of consciousness, initial encounter are both assigned, for a traumatic intracranial hemorrhage with cerebral edema. However, the Excludes1 note in the Tabular list prohibits assigning both codes. Please clarify the appropriate code assignment for these conditions. ...
