Prostate Thermotherapy
Recently, various forms of minimally invasive thermal therapies have emerged as alternatives to TURP for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. These treatments include transurethral microwave thermotherapy (TUMT), transurethral needle ablation of the prostate (TUNA), interstitial laser thermal therapy (ILTT) and high-intensity focus ultrasound (HIFU) thermal therapy. Effective October 1, 2000, two new codes have been created to identify prostate thermotherapy.
