Rapid Desensitization

Our facility is performing “rapid desensitization” to some of our chemotherapy patients who have developed allergies or hypersensitivity reactions (HSRs) to the chemotherapy drugs. This treatment allows the patients to tolerate the chemotherapy drugs they are having the reactions to. We are administering the full dosage of chemotherapy medication and are reporting CPT codes 96413 , Chemotherapy administration, intravenous infusion technique; up to 1 hour, single or initial substance/drug , and 96415 , Chemotherapy administration, intravenous infusion technique; each additional hour , as appropriate. Should we also report code 95180 , Rapid desensitization procedure, each hour, instead of or in addition to the chemotherapy codes? We also want to know if code 95180 is the correct code and if it was designed with chemotherapy allergies in mind? ...
