November 2020 pages 10-11 Expanding External Electrocardiographic Recording Coding Important changes have been implemented in the Cardiovascular Monitoring Services subsection of the Medicine section of the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) 2021 code set. Among these, eight new Category I codes have been added to describe long-term external electrocardiographic (ECG) recording beyond the current 48-hour recording codes (93224-93227). The new Category I codes were created by converting current Category III codes 0295T-0298T originally established for the CPT 2012 code set.
