April 2022 pages 5-9 Synchronized Diaphragmatic Stimulation to Improve Cardiac Output Effective January 1, 2022, the Category III section of the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) code set was expanded to include a new subsection and 12 new codes for reporting procedures and services related to synchronized diaphragmatic stimulation (SDS) systems that enable the stimulation of diaphragm muscles intended to improve cardiac output.
