Since the publication of the January 2004 CPT
Assistant article, “2004 Changes to the RBRVS,”
changes have been made to the Medicare
Economic Index, which appeared on page 3 of
the January article. These changes were
announced by CMS in the January 7, 2004,
Interim Final Rule. They were made in order to
incorporate provisions of the Medicare
Prescription Drug, Improvement, and
Modernization Act of 2003.
A “display” copy (www.cms.hhs.gov) was made
available on December 31, 2003.
