In the following scenario, is it appropriate to report code 37766, Stab phlebectomy of varicose veins, 1 extremity; more than 20 incisions, and code 29581, Application of multi-layer compression system; leg (below knee), including ankle and foot? Perivenous anesthesia in the form of 0.5% lidocaine was delivered to the surrounding tissues of the patients left leg, and 21 small stab incisions were made approximately 2 cm apart along the course of the varicosity with a #11 blade. The vein was then removed through the small incisions using a phlebectomy hook and a mosquito clamp. The entire segment of the marked vein was removed. Adequate hemostasis was obtained and the patients leg was washed with sterile saline and dressed with adhesive strips and abdominal pads. The leg was wrapped with a short stretch bandage and compression stockings were applied.
