CPT Knowledgebase - Nov 6, 2025

A patient with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma presented to a clinic for chemotherapy education. Cancer care education handouts, a chemotherapy education sheet, a chemotherapy checklist, and other printed information were provided and reviewed with the patient. Potential side effects were reviewed and symptom management was discussed with the patient. The total time spent providing face-to-face care in the office setting was 90 minutes, the majority of which was spent counseling and coordinating care for upcoming chemotherapy. Are these services included in the chemotherapy administration code, or should these services be reported with an E/M code?
