Regarding code 65205, Removal of foreign body, external eye; conjunctival superficial, after reading the code description and the clinical vignette in CPT Assistant we want to clarify the role of instrumentation in reporting this code. To report this code do we need to have an instrument utilized to remove the foreign body? If so, does the instrument have to be forceps? In the clinical vignette, forceps were used to remove the wood fragment. In order to report this code do all patients need to have a slit lamp examination and have multiple superior abrasions of the cornea? Please provide assistance with the intent of this code regarding the use of instrumentation and forceps specifically.
