Q&A: Coding volar plate imbrication in the MP joint

Question: Our hand surgeon performed volar plate imbrication on the metacarpophalangeal (MP) joint for finger triggering and laxity. After release at the A1 pulley, “the tendons were retracted out of the way and the volar plate was visualized. The joint was identified with the hypo needle and using a 2-0 Ethibond the volar plate was imbricated and this restricted the hyperextension of the MP joint.”
