Coding advice provided in Coding Clinic for HCPCS in 2006 stated to report CPT code 60699, Unlisted procedure, endocrine system, for the CT-guided needle biopsy of the adrenal gland and 76360, Computed tomography guidance for needle placement (e.g., biopsy, aspiration, injection, localization device), radiological supervision and interpretation, for the CT guidance.  CPT code 77012, Computed tomography guidance for needle placement (e.g., biopsy, aspiration, injection, localization device), radiological supervision and interpretation, became effective in January 2007, for the CT guidance. However, coding advice provided by the AMA states to report CPT code 49180, Biopsy, abdominal or retroperitoneal mass, percutaneous needle, and 77012, Computed tomography guidance for needle placement (e.g., biopsy, aspiration, injection, localization device), radiological supervision and interpretation, for the procedure performed.
