HCPCS codes for Seasonal Influenza Vaccines

CMS is anticipating a patient access problem due to the lack of production capacity and supply of the lowest priced brand-name influenza vaccine product for the 2010-2011 influenza season. Therefore, CMS has established five separate HCPCS codes for the individual influenza brand products currently associated with CPT code 90658, Influenza virus vaccine, split virus, when administered to 3 years of age and older, for intramuscular use. Because the HCPC Q-codes will be recognized by Medicare, CPT code 90658 will be assigned to status indicator “E” to indicate that the code is not recognized under the hospital OPPS. Hospitals...
