New H1N1 Vaccine CPT Codes

Four (4) new H1N1 vaccine codes were released by the American Medical Association (AMA) in January 2010 for implementation as of July 1, 2010. However, CMS created two Level II HCPCS codes that describe both the H1N1 vaccine itself and the administration of the H1N1 vaccine which became effective September 1, 2009. Because two existing H1N1 G-codes appropriately describe the vaccine itself and the administration of the vaccine, Medicare will only recognize the existing G-codes.
