Four new codes have been created to identify acute metabolic acidosis, chronic metabolic acidosis, along with unspecified and other specified types of acidosis:E87.20, Acidosis, unspecified E87.21, Acute metabolic acidosis E87.22, Chronic metabolic acidosis E87.29, Other acidosis Metabolic acidosis occurs when there is an acid-base imbalance in the blood.
