Adverse Incidents due to Therapeutic and Rehabilitative Ophthalmic Devices

Two new codes were created to report ophthalmic related adverse incidents. Code Y77.11, Contact lens associated with adverse incidents, is specific for adverse incidents related to contact lenses. Code Y77.19, Other therapeutic (nonsurgical) and rehabilitative ophthalmic devices associated with adverse incidents, is for other types of ophthalmic devices.Contact lens wearers are at risk for contact lens-related eye infections, especially if they are sleeping or napping in their lenses.
