The AADC enzyme takes part in the pathway that produces the neurotransmitters, dopamine and serotonin. Dopamine is responsible for cognitive function, voluntary movement, and emotions. Serotonin serves to regulate basal function, mood, sleep, memory and learning, body temperature, and cardiovascular and endocrine functions.
