Effective October 1, 2009, code 359.71, Inflammatory and immune myopathies, has been created to identify inclusion body myositis (IBM). IBM is an inflammatory myopathy which is not due to some other identifiable disease and is characterized by chronic muscle inflammation accompanied by muscle weakness.
