June 2020 page 13 Biofeedback Training In 2017, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) code 90911, Biofeedback training, perineal muscles, anorectal or urethral sphincter, including EMG and/or manometry, was identified as potentially misvalued by the American Medical Association (AMA)/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale (RVS) Update Committee (RUC). The stakeholder societies noted that biofeedback for pelvic floor weakness has evolved and patients require disparate amounts of time for each session. For the CPT 2020 code set, code 90911 was deleted and new time-based codes 90912 and 90913 were established to allow accurate reporting. This article provides an overview of these changes...
