May 2001 page 10a Coding Consultation Modifiers, 19120, -59, -76 (Q&A) Question We have always reported excisions of benign tumors or cysts of the breast, which require multiple incisions during the same operative session, using code 19120 with modifier -59 to identify the separate incisions. Now we have been Adviced to report the subsequent incision sites by using modifier -76, Repeat Procedure by Same Physician. Would -76 be a better modifier to use in this situation?
