Pelvic Prolapse Repair Procedures Involving Graft or Prosthesis

Effective October 1, 2007, new codes have been created to describe pelvic prolapse repair procedures that are restorative and compensatory in nature. Examples of pelvic restorative surgery include: cystocele and rectocele repair (70.53); vaginal construction/reconstruction (70.63-70.64); vaginal suspension/fixation (70.78); and enterocele repair (70.93). Additionally, new codes (70.94-70.95), which differentiate the type of graft or prosthesis (biological or synthetic substance) used in these pelvic procedures have been created as well.
