Article Overview
This article covers vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty as minimally invasive spinal procedures, including the coding update that created distinct procedure codes and the general clinical context in which these services may be performed. It is useful for coders and reimbursement professionals who need to understand how these procedures are discussed, how they differ at a high level, and what supporting guidance and historical references are included in the article.
Why This Topic Matters
Accurate identification of these procedures affects procedure reporting, charge capture, and record review for vertebral compression fracture care. The article also helps readers recognize that a later coding update replaced earlier reporting approaches and that the discussion includes practical coding context for this service area.
