Code D71, Functional disorders of polymorphonuclear neutrophils, was expanded and code D71.1, Leukocyte adhesion deficiency, was created to identify leukocyte adhesion deficiency (LAD), a rare genetic disorder that is a combined B cell and T cell immunodeficiency disorder. With this deficiency, the white blood cells, or leukocytes, are unable to effectively adhere to and migrate to sites of infection.
