August 2012 page 13 Surgery: Respiratory System Question: During a nasal septum perforation repair, bilateral mucoperichondrial flaps are elevated superiorly and inferiorly around the nasal septal perforation and elevated on the inferior aspect. The bilateral inferior turbinate flaps are elevated using an anteriorly based pedicle with a combination of a sharp dissection with a #15 blade and Cottle dissection. The flap is then fully elevated, anteriorly transposed, and sewn to the superior aspect of the perforation. Is it appropriate to report code 14060, Adjacent tissue transfer or rearrangement, eyelids, nose, ears and/or lips; defect 10 sq cm or less...
