July 2012 pages 3-6 Spine and Spinal Cord Code Changes The Nervous System section of the CPT 2012 codebook has undergone revision in three subsections: Injection, Drainage, or Aspiration; Reservoir/Pump Implantation; and Destruction by Neurolytic Agent. For certain codes in these subsections, the previous code structure required more than one code to be reported in order to reflect the overall service. For 2012, certain Category I and Category III codes now represent a combination of services.
