Answer: Patients who are undergoing plasma-exchange treatments require simultaneous replacement of the volume of plasma removed. The plasma-exchange treatment using albumin in saline (5% albumin) and/or fresh frozen plasma (FFP) may be reported with code 36514, Therapeutic apheresis; for plasma pheresis.
