Answer: No. There is no specific CPT code to describe performance of an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy with endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) using a band/ring. Therefore, code 43999, Unlisted procedure, stomach, should be reported. It is not appropriate to report code 43244, Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy including esophagus, stomach, and either the duodenum and/or jejunum as appropriate; with band ligation of esophageal and/or gastric varices...
