Question: Why are the codes listed in Appendices D and E of the CPT codebook exempt from modifier 51, Multiple Procedures?
Answer: The codes listed in Appendices D and E of the CPT codebook do not require the use of modifier 51 to signal a payment reduction as the work values for these services have already been reduced. ♦
