March 1998 page 11-end Coding Consultation Medicine, Internal Cardioversion, 93799 (Q&A) My physician performs internal cardioversion. There is a code specific to external cardioversion, however I do not see a code for when cardioversion is performed internally. What code would I report? AMA Comment From a CPT coding perspective, there is not a current CPT code that accurately describes internal cardioversion. Therefore, in the instance wherein internal cardioversion is performed, code 93799, Unlisted cardiovascular service or procedure, would be reported.
