Is the balloon dilatation included as part of the diagnostic procedure? AMA Comment Balloon dilatation is not an inclusive component of either a diagnostic sigmoidoscopy or diagnostic colonoscopy. Balloon dilatation performed at the time of a diagnostic flexible sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy should be reported by either appending the modifier -22 or reporting the unlisted colon...
